A little Introduction…
My name is Maegan Dawn Lee Thornton and I am 29 years old. I am the only child to my amazing parents, Brent and Dawn Lee of Dunn, NC. My parents got it right the first time…when you start with perfection, one child is enough! (hahaha…right!) I am honored to say I married my high-school sweetheart after almost 10 years of dating, Jonathan Paul Thornton of Benson, on September 17th, 2011. Each and every day, I am so proud and so blessed to be my parent's daughter and Jonathan's wife. I have such an awesome family support system including my Granny, Aunts, Uncles, my Thornton In-laws and many cousins. Due to my health condition (and of course, we're just so young! lol), we don't have any children yet. If you've read the book, you understand why I'm not elaborating any further. Due to Jonathan not wanting an animal in the house, we don't have a cat…but I'm secretly planting the seed in his mind that we definitely need one! I am a deeply passionate lover of a little game called football…and of two teams specifically, the Green Bay Packers and the NC State Wolfpack! Brett Favre is my all-time favorite football player and a hall-of-famer for sure, just in case you were wondering. (Aaron Rodgers…you're getting there, just not quite yet!) I am a fantasy football fanatic…and of course I have won plenty of league championships to support that. Funny tidbit- my husband's team was once called, “My Wife Beats Me!” I feel like I have the greatest job in the world because I help people in their time of need. I have been helped so much by people in the medical profession, it is a true honor to give back. I received my Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from Campbell University in 2010. I currently work as a Pharmacist with Carlie C's IGA Pharmacy primarily in the Erwin, NC store. My health condition prevents me from working nearly as much as I would like…but I am extremely grateful for any hours I can work and my amazing Carlie C's staff, friends and bosses. I co-authored a book with my Momma titled, Called to Suffer and we released that book to the public on August 21st, 2015.
I am a Christian and proud to say I attend a Southern Baptist church. I don't plan to get too much in to politics…but if you know me well, you know the deal! My favorite singer is a nice looking, southern boy named Luke Bryan who sings country music perfectly in my eyes. I absolutely love to listen to music and my favorite songs are dependent on the mood I am in. My favorite television shows are currently: Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, Code Black, The Voice and all the NCIS shows. No surprise here…my favorite movie is none other than, “Remember the Titans.” I swear I cry every single time! I am the Aunt to my only and absolute favorite Niece of all time, Logan Gale Thornton. If you read my blog, you'll probably here her name often! Weird fact…I am such a picky eater…like a really, really picky eater. My favorite restaurant is Logan's Roadhouse, because they serve the best cheese fries with ranch dressing and throw together the perfect caesar salad. I may have actually just lied. I really like Logan's Roadhouse because they have the best, most calorie filled rolls that absolutely will melt in your mouth. (My stomach literally just growled!) I have several very unique nicknames including: Itchy, Thunder, Green and Soul Sista. I am also the proud member of a group called the “Fab 4.” All you have to do is read the book…and you'll find all the back-stories out! I am completely blown away every single day at the ridiculously fantastic friends I have. Without a doubt, I have the best friends on the planet and I am so grateful to have my “Team Maegan” squad. Without these people, I would probably be spiraling out of control in a deep depression somewhere. I am motivated every single day by my family and friends…I truly know the tremendous blessing they all bring to my life. I was diagnosed with Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension in 2008 and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome shortly afterwards. I am a leaker…but I refuse to let it rule my life! I am currently a patient at Duke University Medical Center and am treated by some of the most talented doctors on the planet.
A special thank you to the amazingly talented, Mr. Bob Paddock. Without you, this website would not be possible. Thank you for your relentless pursuit in raising awareness for “leakers” like myself. Our community is forever in debited to you. I hope you understand when I say, revenge of the nerds!!! And…Karen will NEVER be forgotten! Thank you, again.
One of my biggest inspirations in life was a man by the name of Stuart Scott. I feel it is only fitting to include two of my favorite quotes from him:
“So Live. Live! Fight life hell. and when you get too tired to fight, lay down and rest and let someone else fight for you.”
“Everyday, I am reminded that our life's journey is really about the people who touch us.”
I am a football fan…so I must conclude this introduction with the following:
“It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up.” -Vince Lombardi
“Don't give up. Don't ever give up.” Jim Valvano
